Mark Joyner is very popular. About a month ago I caught news on Twitter about some kind of live video thing he was doing on ustream.tv and when I got there, there was around 5,000 people viewing it. Shortly after another 6,000 poured in. I never seen a ustream.tv channel with 11,000 people watching it.

Everyone knows Chris Pirillo, well Chris usually has around 1,000, which is awesome! But 11,000 people at the same time was very impressive.

Thanks for the gift and reminder to get planning and Building a Business for 2009. I am familiar with Marks work and will study these materials carefully.
  • SparkD · 12 months ago
I enjoyed the audio interview. I'm glad someone gets it. Because I choose to turn down "lunch" and stay focused on my goals, I've been called "weird" and insulted at work.

I happen to live by a mix of backwards planning and "moved by inspiration." I call that leaping through "windows of opportunity." I needed to hear that today!

Great nuggets of information. I would almost wish for a more step-by-step account. But the thing that occurs to me is the "planning" in an online business must entail one very important thing: It's almost impossible to plan! And therefore, a step-by-step is almost impossible, as well.

Why do I say this? I have been on the Net for 15 years. In my career, I've been part of what has created the current Net of today. I have several small businesses. And I assure you, you can wake up tomorrow and everything you've done, believed, or planned for... has shifted 180 degrees. Or 90. Or even 12-1/2. The technologies change by the instant. If there is anything one needs to plan for, it is the element of change... and that your 'plan' could be out the window when you awake.

Example... the "Google Slap"... look what happened to people. Your PR6 site all of a sudden wavers between 2 and 3, sometimes 1. And you spend the next few years, changing, developing, writing, writing... mostly to no avail. Since this is the continuation of a 35+ year family business, you don't give up. However, this past year I've changed mindset. I'm still working the publishing house. But I've moved on to other loves... to design and writing. And I still find that each morning brings on changes in the Net, in technologies.

You've got to remain fluid. A 'traditional' business plan just does not work.

Thanks for the interview Jason, I really enjoyed it and it was very helpful. I really liked the insights and thoughts you shared with us.

Its quite interesting how lots of things you mentioned are also very much real and problems we all face every day. After just listening to the MP3 i realized that there is in fact a lot of things I should be working and constantly improving on.

    Thanks for the gift Jason.

    Thanks for sharing Jason,
it really is important that you have a goal even though you don't know how to get there. The Backward Planning Process that you mentioned got me thinking and i will definitely create one of these.

    Again, thanks for sharing.

 I just downloaded the "Building a Business NOT a Blog" and I'm absolutely floored! I'm up to page #19 and already understand what I could not grasp in the books I have paid for. Thanks for making it easy for me to say, 'I get it now!'. I have been doing the starting over and over again with the 'new Mr. marketer' for a year already.

I have to go now and finish reading (I'm addicted) your eBook. It's awesome.
