Thanks
Merry Christmas
Everyone knows Chris Pirillo, well Chris usually has around 1,000, which is awesome! But 11,000 people at the same time was very impressive.
I happen to live by a mix of backwards planning and "moved by inspiration." I call that leaping through "windows of opportunity." I needed to hear that today!
10 Websites each making 1,000 a month!
Why do I say this? I have been on the Net for 15 years. In my career, I've been part of what has created the current Net of today. I have several small businesses. And I assure you, you can wake up tomorrow and everything you've done, believed, or planned for... has shifted 180 degrees. Or 90. Or even 12-1/2. The technologies change by the instant. If there is anything one needs to plan for, it is the element of change... and that your 'plan' could be out the window when you awake.
Example... the "Google Slap"... look what happened to people. Your PR6 site all of a sudden wavers between 2 and 3, sometimes 1. And you spend the next few years, changing, developing, writing, writing... mostly to no avail. Since this is the continuation of a 35+ year family business, you don't give up. However, this past year I've changed mindset. I'm still working the publishing house. But I've moved on to other loves... to design and writing. And I still find that each morning brings on changes in the Net, in technologies.
You've got to remain fluid. A 'traditional' business plan just does not work.
Its quite interesting how lots of things you mentioned are also very much real and problems we all face every day. After just listening to the MP3 i realized that there is in fact a lot of things I should be working and constantly improving on.
Thanks for the gift Jason.
May you have a blessed 2009.
cd :O)
I've already posted my "general" goals online at my blog, http://www.improvingtheweb.com
it really is important that you have a goal even though you don't know how to get there. The Backward Planning Process that you mentioned got me thinking and i will definitely create one of these.
Again, thanks for sharing.
I'd really love 09 to be the tear away year, not sure If it would be though!
I have to go now and finish reading (I'm addicted) your eBook. It's awesome.
Thanks for this!!
