Interesting post Jacob. I am a student blogger as well and I think that a lot of this post relates well to a large demographic (like myself). Keep up the great work

I concur completely with the point about different music working for different people. Music is associated or tied into many things. The trick is finding that song or artist who you relate to a certain state of mind (ex. Working, relaxing, thinking) and create a suitable work enviornment.

Please note: "He is my idle" ----- correction: "He is my idol" (hate to nitpick, but if Jon wants to fix this he can)

I find that constantly changing the environment you work in, ie music for a bit, then silence, then some more music, helps you focus better. It stops you from day dreaming as much and keeps you working.

Yeah, I don't think my wife understands how I can listen to music and still concentrate on stuff.

Especially because I'm a huge Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Gary Hoey, Ratt, and Racer X fan.

    But hey, it works...

Interesting that when I used to do graphics for a living computer art at home I could listen to music all the time, but now that I blog a lot, I have a hard time listening to music.
