I must admit though that the food pictures are something I will have to work on a bit harder or get a professional to take them.

Thanks for this article though I really will take in some of your suggestions for my own blog.

Re: Lessons from the Foodies on Purposeful Content

So true. The recipes and dishes are the same but it's in the presentation that makes the different.

Re: Lessons from the Foodies on Purposeful Content

I happen to like Brussel sprouts! What was the name of that blog?
You should try them with brown sugar, maybe your Mom didn't tell you about how much better they would taste. Just sprinkle it on same as you do with Chilli.

Re: Lessons from the Foodies on Purposeful Content

I am in FOOD Department I could say ;-), trying to do my best!
My website focuses not only on recipes ( raw food recipes!) but on conscious eating, habits, dangers that come out of addictions.
What I have noticed is that if there is a sense of humor , the reader will come ( back).
But, it is true, that "food" blogs are not a gold bombs like "money-making" ones.
;-)
All the best for you!

Re: Lessons from the Foodies on Purposeful Content

Isn't that what it's all about - and why there are so many programs trying to teach copywriting? Because so many people are not really good at it. But even if you know you are not good at copywriting, if you stick to "yourself" and don't b*s*, you should get fairly decent content together.

Re: Lessons from the Foodies on Purposeful Content

Excellent! If you want to try and compete and make money against all the competition, you need to have quality content. You need to make sure you're providing people a reason to come back. I definitely recommend watching the analyics closely as well so you can see what content is popular and how people are finding your blog so you can replicate your success.

Re: Lessons from the Foodies on Purposeful Content

Couldn't agree more, brussel sprouts...I suppose it's possible, in theory to make them taste nice :-o But photos, photography, a picture says/tells a thousand words as they say and after 5 years selling on ebay I can tell you that it's hugely important to back well written, from the heart useful content up with really good crisp well lit, in context photos.

Re: Lessons from the Foodies on Purposeful Content

If a food blog, could make brussel sprouts sound tasty I would subscribe, That would be one hell of a blog

Re: Lessons from the Foodies on Purposeful Content

And I believe they need to update it frequently too, just like any other blogs.

Re: Lessons from the Foodies on Purposeful Content

You have some really good content here, i will link you back to my blog at http://www.danbriffa.com so my readers can come see what you have going on!

I’m currently creating an online business from scratch and im sure your content will come handy.

Thanks, keep up the great work!

Dan

Re: Lessons from the Foodies on Purposeful Content

LOL, right on buddy.

Re: Lessons from the Foodies on Purposeful Content

nice work

Re: Lessons from the Foodies on Purposeful Content

I think that just being real makes all the difference in the world. One thing that people like about my food blog is that I use everyday GENERIC ingredients...not some fancy high dollar, order from out of the country type of ingredients. The photos make a HUGE difference as well. It's great to incorporate humor, history, and true life stories when writing anything. It established a bond, a trust with your readers, no matter the niche.

So yes, quality and keeping it real is what counts.

Re: Lessons from the Foodies on Purposeful Content

Thanks.
