John Cow dot COM: Make Money Online Blogging

  • Chris Jacobson · 1 year ago
From what I've read of the eBook so far, I'm pretty impressed. The title fits perfectly, as building a business is much more important than just building a blog.

The keyword research chapter was very informative. I thought I had everything down pretty good, but even I learned a few things. :)

    Thanks, Cow.

... now back to my reading.

You know what I am enjoying most about your eBook? It is in plain English. I can understand what you are talking about and what you are telling me to do. I hate when you are reading something and it is a bunch of technical jargon that I have no idea how to do. And I love your dry erase board -- I need one of those for my house!

To people that are on a medium level of knowledge the book is great because is allows to review and relearn the basics, and also to learn new things in detail.
It's a good step by step manual/tutorial. Straight and concise.

When I first started reading this ebook, all I could think about was how this was going to be another one of those promotional items just to sucker me into giving them my email and that I probably wouldn't learn much from it.

I was wrong. There was so much information that I couldn't stop reading. Forget the dinner, forget cleaning, forget the kids, forget my husband because I was too into it that I couldn't stop reading. Wait, let's not forget my husband since he is the bread winner after all. My husband may be the bread winner but not for long since I read this ebook and am now starting to put it to work.

The ebook didn't waste any time jumping right into what we needed to learn. I was taught the basics of blogging, writing, SEO and a lot of advanced information also such as how to sell a product such as an ebook and what you need to do to get to a much higher pay scale in the blogging world.

This ebook explains everything in word for word articles so that even a beginner can understand. When reading this book, you are taken into an in depth discussion about blogging and making money from it.

I would advice anyone to read this ebook and to listen what the Cows say when they tell you to take notes because you are defiantly going to want too.

When I first started reading the ebook I was blown away by all the details that they put into it. I learned a lot about scoping out keywords to use for my blog. After applying the methods in the ebook to my blog I saw my unique visitors and returning visitors jump from a few a day to at least 100/day (thats about 20times more then before!)

My feed count went higher as well. Thank you John Cow!

Know what else is great about it? Any level of blogger can use it, even a complete beginner

As a newbie with a newly published website I want to extend my gratitude to you for the fabulous insite within "Building a Business Not a Blog." The keyword research series it contains was the most comprehensive I have come across, yielding data that speaks much louder than the mere traffic-vs-competition approach.

I have also gained a much greater understanding into web 2.0 socoal marketing. After implementing just a couple of your techniques thus far, I have aleady noticed an increase in traffic generated directly from relevant social outlets you recomended I post to.

With an e-commerce site, I must say this e-book certainly could be retitled to take in a broader audiance. Though perhaps originally designed as such, it is not just for bloggers "ONLY." I have found a huge cache of wealth here and fully intend to implement these things into my e-commerce business. I expect only further positve results as I tweek your techniques into an e-commerce model.

    Thanks loads, Cow!

I used the concepts taught in the ebook (and borrowed some ideas from GamerzReviewz) to help send traffic to a site I built. It isn't actually a blog but a BANS site but the majority of the methods throughout the ebook worked for it regardless.

I earned a decent amount of money from the site and brought lots of traffic to link bait page. I ran a contest which is now over. Despite the fact the contest is over, people are still signing up, money is still coming in and the traffic is growing.

Truthfully, I did all of this by mimicking ideas from GamerzReviewz (with my own twist) and not from the ebook directly. But being that the ebook is a collection of the phenomenal posts that taught the concepts for GamerzReviewz, then technically I used the info from the ebook.

So...thank-you! Awesome job, I will continually refer to the eBook for all new blogs (and sites) that I build.
  • Mike Paetzold · 1 year ago
After following the series on the blog the book has become a resource for me. You guys really should sell this not give it away.

Specifically the section on creating a bait post is something I just used on a new site that will be launching shortly. Watched and learned carefully from how you did it.

The keyword research and the two new tools (yes the paid ones) have helped me to improve three of my older niche blogs and drill my keywords down to "selling keywords" versus traffic keywords.

Your list of plugins was good though I do disagree on one or two but then if you got 20 bloggers together you would have 25 different sets of plugins ; but it is a good base for any new person.

Finally I mindmapped the process and am now using that as a checklist to launch new blogs and saved the book as a reference for details. . Even Old Bald Guy's learn new things from a cow

    Hi John,

After I downloaded your ebook, I was very surprised to find your ebook was filled with so much information. I have paid $47 to $127 for many ebooks that didn't provide half the info you are giving. You provide many links to excellent resources with no filler. It is refreshing to see so much info given free and your info is very current. Your ebook has convinced me to build more blogs and less websites.

    Thanks again

Extremely thorough ebook. I found some great suggestions inside. It's definitely not a book to just skim through. You'll want to read it page-by-page, as you'll find lots of pointers.

This post is much better than ebooks I've acquired in the past. Don't waste your time with anything else until you've applied the information in this ebook.

Wow, what a great book! I downloaded it the first day it was launched, and I have to say that this book is perfect for all those people who want to create an online business using a blog as the tool to manage it.

This book covers every single point from zero, which you can easily create with success a blog and learn how to use it to make money online.

I specially like the chapter when it deals with making relationships through social media networks. I think that the relationship WIN/WIN is the key to be successful, and this book explains this point detailed, being for me a good help to improve my relationships with my readers, and the proof of it is in my subscribers counter, which has been increasing since then...

I loved how it provides several examples to help you to set your business properly, you can find examples of emails to use on viral marketing, examples of keywords and more, it's really helpful.

I highly recommend this ebook, it is very well written and it's very easy to understand, with this tool I noticed that you don't need to be a guru to build with success, your online business.

Well i won't be wrong if i say that this e- book changed my life. At least my online life! for sure!
I have an online store which i created a month ago. I was despered because the sells didn't go very well. Then i marked this book by hasard on the net while surfing.I was read a lot of e-books with marketing tips and they all was full of great promises but the practical content was extremely poor.
"Building a business, not a blog" showed me how to dominate the search engines. Now my page rank is 5 and i have 900 unique visitors every day.The "content tips" are very useful as they show you how to apply great marketing strategies and therefore generate more traffic.
I strongly reccomend you to see the chapter about the link building. It was this chapter that increased my page rank and generated me quality traffic!!!
The most important thing about it is that this e book is easy to read and don't consist nothing superfluous. The tools shown are very comprehensible and easy to use.
If you plan to create an e-business or you have one but want to develop it, then this is a must-read!
    I wish you good luck!

This book is one of best book i have found on online marketing. when i first come to this website i am too thinking whether to download this book or not. Now i am glad that i decide to download this book. i really learned many things from this book.

This book teach you which things to put first while creating a blog. This book explain how to promote you blog in best possible way. Let me tell you one thing that i read in this book which will give you better understanding how good this book is.

This book says while working to improve traffic for your blog or website you must consider few thing. you must improve your traffic so you can benefit from that. for example if you website is for selling online games then you get 100 of clicks or users to your blog or website but nobody is purchasing then those traffic is useless for your blog or website. This book will teach to bring right traffic to your blog.

    Download this ebook & try.
This book will definitely help you improve your blog or website

It was very informative, covered almost every single detail and aspect of the specific topic. It is as comprehensive and detailed as anyone would want it to be. There are countless ebooks on making money by a lot of people, almost each one of them has a price but something like this "for free" and with quality is Priceless :)

Question is, why are you buying e-books? everytime you surf, you'll find a new person selling a new book on how to build your blog, how much is your content worth etc etc.. but if you think of it, are there any "real" secrets left for someone to take a look at? Most probably John figured that out and wrote this great e-book.

I'll be honest, it may not provide anything that "most" of the people who are blogging for 6+ months, don't know of but it does clear a lot of misconceptions that are roaming around because of massive advices coming in, mostly in form of e-books.

I'll agree, there are some very good tips and trick that most of the books don't cover, it's a step by step guide for specially someone new on the scene and please concentrate on the phrase "Step by Step". You can't jump the ladder in your first go, read carefully, make points of what John has explained and I'm sure you'll get to the point where you'll feel satisfied and recommend this book to your fellows or someone who didn't had a chance to read it.

For starters, download this free e-book (which must have taken a lot more time to be writte if compared to your research that you on your daily basis) and get yourself a jump start.

Keep in mind, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is :)

Being a IM newbie, I have been spending the past two months just reading and studying everything I can get me hands on to try and "learn the business". I was getting to the point of "information overload". Your book was a good "slap in the face"...I need to refocus, set some goals, and get going!

With all the hype and "smoke" that is out there, it's nice to get some real, authentic, workable advice...and FREE at that! That's unheard of!

    This is definitely RECOMMENDED READING!!

I liked the fact that "Building a Business NOT a Blog" included a total plan for your business. The topics covered everything - how to choose a niche and accompanying product, setting up your website and then marketing it - for those beginning in the field. I haven't had the opportunity yet to implement many of the ideas, but I look forward to using it as a resource in the future.

I didn't used to be a John Cow fan at all. But times are changing smart people stay open to change. This is probably one of the best ebooks I've yet read on blogging for profit, and I've read a lot of them. And nearly every cent I've made online has been made from little niche blogs.

The release of this book was a little piece of synchronicity for me, because I've been working on changing the way I do things. I've realised some time ago that what I had on line was not a business, but an internet job of sorts, and when a hacker took down my network and replaced it with phishing sites, it took me out. There was nothing of value left without the pages, because I had never actualy created a business, just a transient income.

The John Cow team addresses a lot of stuff in this book that I've been puzzling out for myself over the past few months, and they make it crystal clear. What I like best is that they provide real life examples of the things they say.

A couple of the key takeaways for me is the niche research method described. I'm expirimenting with it now, but I have to say that as good as my method already was I think this is better. I had messed around with CB as a niche generating resource a few times, but never worked out just how to use it that way, this book cleared that up for me instantly, and while I may not follow the exact method the John Cow team does, I'll be incorporating their ideas into my method and it's going to be much improved because of that.

There are also a lot of little things that get the attention they need in this book. Things like turning off notifications while you prep a blog for publication. I've been doing that fopr a while, but I was very impressed to see it directly mentioned here. It's one of those details that most ebooks skip over, and a lot of new niche bloggers suffer for that oversight.

The two things that might have made this book even better would be more discussion of and resources for creating link bait and including a generous helping of bookmarks in the PDF file. Since I see myself reading certain sections several times as a working guide line, it would be nice to be able to just click to the section of the book I'm interested in at the moment.

But still, this is a blogging ebook that I can easily and happily recommend, and I already have to a number of online friends an in a couple of forums I frequent. Thanks John Cow.

I downloaded this ebook as soon as it came out as i knew that it would contain fantasticool information just like the site (johncow.com). I read it through twice (just so i didn't miss anything) and found that it had some good detail about finding those keyword "Diamonds". I was also pleased that it took me through the whole process of creating an awesome site. I would pay for this book and im a stinge. Thanks for all that good "milk" John Cow  .
  • Dane Morgan · 1 year ago
    Question:
When you say that you don't look at products under $15 commissions when doing research, can you clarify the scope of that statement? Did you specifically mean clickbank products? Do you set a different threshold for physical products since they typically have a lower affiliate payout?

Dane Morgans last blog post..Are They Forgotten?
  • John Cow · 1 year ago
It comes down to ROI... how many sales can you make versus the amount of time you put into it. for us, I just do not spend much time on anything that does not profit us at least $15 per conversion and the reason is the average of 0.5% to 2% conversion is pretty standard. Sometimes it is lower and sometimes it is higher.

The point is if it takes the same time and energy to promote something that makes you $5 as it does $15, then I will always go for the higher.

Now you of course need to take traffic potential, demand and conversions into account and also if you are promoting this product on a new site or an old site.

For example if I have an established blog on weight loss, we would do a review of a product that paid a lower commission because we are just doing a post. However, if this was going to be the main money maker on the site, well then you are talking about a lot more effort being put into it and therefore it would have to pay out more.

    Hope that helps

Great Job with this ebook! I was pleasantly surprised when I saw how much information was packed inside! At 134 pages, there's a lot of valuable info to be learned.

I like that you stress the higher level, big picture of creating a blog as a business. It's easy to get caught up in all of the technical details that goes into making one. But if you don't have the basic, business vision in place first, it doesn't matter how cool your Wordpress theme is, how creative your header graphic is, how often you post, etc. etc. If you don't do the required research and planning ahead of time, you're just blogging for fun. That's the difference between a "hobby blog" and a blog that becomes a business and makes you decent money.

This eBook has so many great points!
For one, the book is easy to understand (well, so far anyway) and it explains all the steps needed to build a successful business.
One thing that sets it apart from most articles I've read about making money online is it doesn't assume you're already prepared for making an online business. It reminds you about factors you need to consider before launching into an e-business and I know that when I finally get round to setting another one up - I'll feel much more prepared and it'll actually have potential to provide me with long-term income!
    Now.. back to the book!

So I started reading your blog...... 30 minuted later you already changed totally my mind about doing business online, so I needed to bookmark you ;-)
By reading your blog in the next days and now your new Ebook you give me so many ideas and practical tips how to work (hard) and organize step by step my Websites as real business.
As I know, not so many people out there, are ready to give away so valuable information, I'm really glad to know you ! Thanks !

    Hey John
It has taken my while to make a comment because I have been reading and then re-reading your ebook - Building a business NOT a blog. Wow. 135 page PDF book takes a while to get through and while not complicated you need to focus your attention to get the most out of it. You also need to take notes and you need to have a project to apply it to. The sentence that I love the most. The one that makes this ebook stand out is this -
"If all you do is read and research but never put things into practice, then what are you doing that is tangible?"
That sentence was made for me. WOW
So my project stopped progressing because I was afraid of too much competition. And yet if you want to look at what customers are already saying they want, then this is a proven winner.
So after reading your book I feel I have enough of a Blueprint to go after a topic in Health & Dieting.
And that is what I am going to do.
    Wish me luck

Well! It's time to comment, Took we a week to read through the book, Yes start to finish, only stopping along the way to try a few things that I have never tried before. I don't know how many times I have read an e-book and not done what I was told to. Why now? because the instruction in the book answers more of the details for me as I have never had them answered before.

You can bet that any tools I buy will be on John Cows cookie! Thanks for a great detailed E-book, but don't feel you are through with me, I want more.

    Hi,

I have download the ebook rad it totally I bought Traffic Travis try 3 keywords lists and no website came up with the competition Ads. I did everything mentioned in the ebook. Does that software still works because the keyword finder also don't work?
  • John Cow · 1 year ago
I will be sending out an updated copy of the ebook this week, using the new version of TrafficTravis that will also be released this week. If you own TT, then this is a free upgrade for you.

Now you mentioned the keyword finder also not work??? What keyword finder?
  • Frans Nieuwenhuis · 1 year ago
The first option in Traffic Travis is a keyword searcher. That don't work either.

Well, I thank my friend for shooting me this link. I'm on page 48 right now. I have a text editor open taking notes and I realize that now I have to stop and start following the steps. I have an account with everyone mentioned up until Traffic Travis... so I'll stop and get that. I've been with clickbank for about two years and have done nothing with it. Times are changing I guess

Thanks for the info. I hope to really turn my focus into building a business after this. I think it has a lot of potential.

    WOW,

Your taking this industry by storm and sharing so stellar stuff, thank you.

A budding marketer could learn a few thing simply by looking at the business you are building.
Blogging is a great way to build a business. But i think many people forget when you leave a blog post, you are "talking" to a real person. If you remember that fact and simply look at what is in fact being presented and what others have to say, it doesn't take a lot of extra effort to add value to the discussion.

I have been in this industry for a bit now and most certainly there is a network of familiar folks. Read, learn, comment, ask questions, share thoughts.....it is rather fun I think:)

    Cheers!

Thanks so much for preparing this book.

Your Cow vs. Conn throwdown inspired me to take a look at what I could be doing better. So, Sept. 1st I launched a personal project called "30 in 30". I dedicated myself to creating a potential new revenue stream every day for 30 days. Your affiliate link was my first one - a no brainer if you ask me, given the quality and how much I believe in what you do. I figure if I want the universe to shower me with riches I'd better give it an easy channel to do that!

Thanks for the great ebook and the great op to leverage it monetarily. Here's my blog post announcement for your review: http://tinyurl.com/6f2fbd. Hope it gets us both satisfied customers.
