:shock: :shock: hmmm... I've tried to make money with free registration on a pay-per-lead type system and it has worked well in the past... I stopped because my best promotion was no longer being offered, maybe I should step back into that game.
I suppose if one's purpose for blogging is purely commercial (i.e. what happened to the native intention and beauty of writing per se?), then this post has been most useful.
I'm sure you'd make tons of money through advertising, and I am guilty for a couple of banners myself, but increasingly, I see more and more blogs looking like grandma's Best Of The Week catalog. With that amount of banners bastardizing the layout of blogs, I can't help but understand why 'serious writers' scoff at us bloggers.
And mind you, I'm an advertising manager by profession. And yet I feel a bit overwhelmed and disgusted by the amount of commercialization in the blogosphere these days.

Mmm isn't it smarter to offer your visitor FREE stuff and sign them on your own newsletter? And that way increase subscribers base and in the long term make more cash. Then it's to send the visitors all over the place :-).
